Mary Time - Because I'm Worth It!


Hi Everyone,

 Gee...   I know it's been a long time since many of you have heard from me.  I've had some issues...   

 We'll just leave it at that; you don't need or want to know all my "issues".  And, I don't really want to sit here and type them all out for you either (that would be just plain un-fun!).

Last night, as I lay sleepless in my bed, I had time to think and I decided that I've let drudgery take over my life.  I'm retired!  I should be out there having a blast; but the time has turned into one long monotonous day after another of the same old thing.  And, that's largely my responsibility.

So, I've decided I need to start small; but I want to start.

My plan is called Mary Time - Because I'm worth it!

I am going to schedule a one-hour appointment with myself each and every day on my Google Calendar (with a reminder notification) so I can set aside some “QUALITY” Mary Time.  I want to invest in my relationship with myself while I still can.

During this hour, I will schedule things that I want to do; things that are fun, relaxing, or productive!  Maybe I’ll papercraft or sew, maybe I’ll quilt or read, perhaps I’ll organize my supplies or learn a new crotchet stitch, or whatever!

I’d like to research home-based business ideas and write blog posts.  It doesn’t matter WHAT I do…   I can do anything I desire but it must be something that I WANT TO DO; not anything that I MUST do. 

That one little hour per day will be JUST FOR ME!  That hour should help refresh me; that is the whole point!  This one hour of self-indulgence will help feed my soul, spark my creativity, and make me feel good about myself.  Which in turn will help me be better about the world and about others.

Please keep me in your prayers as I start this endeavor!  God wants us to be fulfilled and refreshed so we can be ready to do His work.  I think some Mary time will be a start in the right direction.

The farmer doesn’t plant the field, or endure the dog days of summer, because it is fun or because he needs some excitement in his life.  He makes his plans, plants the fields, and does his daily chores because he desires the harvest.  He desires the good part of farming…  Likewise, the good part of life, the abundance of God, is only available to us when we make our plans, do the work, and develop the good habits that lead to the desired result. Jesus Christ himself was the best teacher in The Word, and in the world, on finishing what He started.  Jesus’ example was to honor and glorify God; that was His lifes work; and He did it in all that He said and did.  John 17:4 (KJV) - I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. I would like to follow Jesus’ example. I want to honor and glorify God with my thoughts, words, and deeds.  That means that one day at a time, chore by chore, I must make the right choices to change my habits

2014-0102 - encouragement

I would like to extend a huge thank you to all of my friends and family who have been so supportive.  I received many very kind words of encouragement in response to my very first ever blog post.  I do have to admit that it was fun to see those words in print knowing that they had been published to the internet!  So... now you know...  I am very easily amused , hahaha! Decluttering Journey

Today I decided that I would keep an electronic journal of my decluttering journey.   I’m not sure that it’s fit for anyone to read except me; but I think it’s important for me to keep track of my progress so I have a record of my struggles and my success. My dear husband, Ray, hates clutter.   He is a “hider”.   He puts things in drawers and boxes and sometimes forgets where he puts them (sometimes he forgets that he ever touched an item).   I myself would rather have everything out in the open so that eventually my eye will fall upon what I need.   Alternatively, I like having things in labeled containers, drawers, or notebooks so I can find them quickly if/when needed (assuming I’ve taken the time to return them to their assigned spaces). Ray and I have talked, on and off, about setting a timer and working together to declutter our apartment for some time.   We agreed to do it; but we cherish this time together.   Ray doesn’t seem enthusiastic about the project because he believ
