This morning’s reading, Proverbs 7, contrasted living in wisdom (seeing things the way God sees them) and the way of the “strange woman” or the harlot.  A literal reading of the passage warns us against sexual sin and reminds us that people will try to deceive us and make us believe our sins are ok, and that no one will find out about them.  Have you found that to be the case in your life?  Do those who entice you to sin reason with you and tell you that it’s ok as long as you don’t get caught? Proverbs 4:7 (KJV) -  Wisdom is the principal thing;  therefore get wisdom:  and with all thy getting  get understanding.  But, the truth of the matter is that sin always has consequences.  We may not see those consequences immediately; but, in the long run, our sins will find us out and we will pay for them.  Proverbs 7:27 tells us that the harlot’s house is the way to hell, and will lead us into the chamber of death.  The harlo...

Technology is wonderful, except when it isn’t.  I have a bunch of photos on my cell phone that I want to get onto my computer, so I can share them with others, and I am having a dreadful time getting it right.  I took lots of pictures at my friend’s birthday party and lots of people asked me to share them.  Either I have copied one set of photos over, and over, and over again; or I fear that I have deleted some pictures I promised to friends.  Yes, technology IS wonderful, except when it isn’t. I’m not always a technical goofball.  But, lately it seems that I’m more goofball than technical.  Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  I also have before and after photos of the clear-the-clutter project that Amy and I embarked upon last Saturday!  You guessed it, I haven’t figured out how to share those pictures either, but thankfully, no one is asking about them, hahaha.  So, I’ll tell you about our progress…  And, then, when I get t...

Today was bittersweet.  A lovely woman, a member of our church family, lost the battle with cancer - and passed on victoriously to be with our Lord - the other day.  Today we attended her funeral; a memorial to the way she lived her life.  It was a lovely service.  Yes, we were saddened at the loss of our friend; but joyous in the fact that she is with Our Lord! There were hundreds of people in attendance to show their love and support for her family.  We – as a congregation – sang some of her favorite hymns; some of her loved ones read a few of her favorite Bible passages; and one of her closest friends – who is also fighting cancer – played her guitar and sang a beautiful hymn. She sang a hymn that speaks of the Christian hope.  As human beings, we tend to worry; so, it is reassuring that we, as born again believers, don’t have to worry about tomorrow.  There isn’t any fear about where we’ll go when we pass out of this world; we will move on...

Proverbs 15:1-3 (KJV) -- A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.  The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.  The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Have you had someone criticize, or snap at you, lately?  Feels great, right?  Did you run right over and thank the offender for helping build your Christian Character?  No?  Me either!  My gut reaction is to give back as good as I got. In such situations, I want to tell someone off, defend myself, and loudly explain my side of the story.  I yearn to point out their blame, recap how lucky they are to know me, and educate them not to discourage or demean me.  I long to yank out my best vocabulary list, select just the right words, and “put them in their place.”  Anybody else ever feel that way?  Please raise your hands!  Let’s use our imaginations for a coupl...

Today is the first day of the rest of my blog...   OK, OK, OK!  It’s a little corny but it suits my personality; and it lets you know right away that this isn’t your typical blog.  I know it’s not your typical blog because I don’t know what a typical blog is supposed to look like.  I know it’s not your typical blog because I don’t have much experience with all things blog. It’s not like I grew up thinking I want to be a blogger when I grow up; let’s face it when I was growing up who knew ( except, of course, the sci-fi writers ) that just about everybody would have access to a computer or a smartphone.  Who ever imagined that we would all be magically linked to some worldwide communications web?  When I was a kid, having a web in your house meant that you had spiders or that you didn’t dust often enough.  Just saying!
