2014-0101 - day one

Today is the first day of the rest of my blog...   OK, OK, OK!  It’s a little corny but it suits my personality; and it lets you know right away that this isn’t your typical blog.  I know it’s not your typical blog because I don’t know what a typical blog is supposed to look like.  I know it’s not your typical blog because I don’t have much experience with all things blog.

It’s not like I grew up thinking I want to be a blogger when I grow up; let’s face it when I was growing up who knew (except, of course, the sci-fi writers) that just about everybody would have access to a computer or a smartphone.  Who ever imagined that we would all be magically linked to some worldwide communications web?  When I was a kid, having a web in your house meant that you had spiders or that you didn’t dust often enough.  Just saying!

I really don’t know what a blogger is supposed to be, or do, or say; blogging is a brand new adventure for me.  That’s what life is all about, right?  Trying new things?  That keeps life exciting!  I hope you’ll find my blog interesting!

The wonderful world of cyberspace has many powerful tools to offer that provide useful information and it certainly makes life more interesting.  There are lots, and lots, and lots of things you can learn on the internet.  Some of them are good, and others not so good.

I know you have plenty of other cyber-places to spend your time.  I hope you will find my blog to be one of the good things in your life.

blog is a many splendored thing – I can’t tell you what this blog may become in the long run.  I expect that it will be a mixed up, many faceted, many themed, many splendored thing (much like me, hahaha).

There may be good days or bad; happy days or sad; we might laugh or share a few tears.  I might share my daily Bible Reading with you, or tell you about something I found on Pinterest, I might share a poem, or give you directions for my latest craft project.  I really can’t say what I will learn, or how much I’ll be able to share because today is just day one of this new adventure; but I hope you’ll visit my blog again…

Here are just a few reasons why – I am a Christian.  I love God because He first loved me.  Jesus Christ is my Lord and my Savior.  I want all that I think, say, or do to honor and glorify God!  I am not perfect; that’s why I need a savior.  I am a work in process; I have not arrived.  I’ve seen plenty of happiness in my life but some sorrow too.  Giraffes are beautiful.  I have lots to learn, and lots to share, and this is going to be fun.  Please join me again!

Written by Carisa Stahl For several years in a row my daughter Amy has chosen a word for the year. This year her word is, "Choose". Mary chose, "Constancy". I had no intention or desire to choose a word for the year. Back in January I was online and saw a news video clip where teachers had chosen a word for the school year. Their word choice was written on their hand and held up to the camera. The word NOW popped out at me and I felt that the Lord was prompting me to choose that as my word so I looked up definitions for the word, "now", chose the chorus from a Patch The Pirate Song, and chose a Bible verse and made a poster. NOW is not necessarily my word for the year, I am thinking it may be my word for the rest of my life. Nine years ago I had health problems that put me in bed for a few months- barely able to even get up to the bathroom. Life was a struggle. 2014-0103 - lists1 - i like lists

Ok, it is the beginning of a new year, it seems like a good time to set out some goals to get me moving in the right direction; to that end, it’s time to grab a piece of paper and a pen and start writing…  Did I mention that I am a list maker?  Yes, I am!  I really like lists! Lists motivate me.  They give me a sense of accomplishment.  I love the little checkmarks that accumulate along the side of the page as I finish each item.  I even like the little “X” marks, and scratch out lines, which signify to me that items I once considered worthy of listing have now lost their urgency or appeal. Lists can be fun!  They help me sort through my thoughts, and to prioritize them, so I can see what I need to accomplish.  List making provides flexibility.  Putting pen to paper allows me to respond to distractions but brings me back to what I originally started out to do.
